Japan: Food For The Spirit (Channel Four/Pacifica Films, UK) 16mm Colour. An hour-long documentary looking at Japanese life and culture. Winner: Jury Special Prize for Films on Japan /Asahi Shimbun. Written and directed by Shirley Booth.

The Silent Invasion (NHK /Pacifica Films/TV Ontario, Canada)
An ‘NHK Special’ one hour documentary, about how the Japanese diet has changed since the war, leading to an increase in western-style degenerative disease, and how, in America, Japanese foods are gaining popularity amongst the health-conscious. Written, produced and directed by Shirley Booth.

Ilan Yanizsky – painter (Fuji TV, Japan) A 20-minute programme in the Tokyo-Mono series about foreigners in Tokyo. Ilan Yanisky is an Israeli sumi-e painter, who combines traditional Japanese techniques with a modern western sensibility.

Sounding Bamboo - John Kaizan Neptune, bamboo flute player (Hoso Bunka Kikin NHK Cultural Foundation) A 20-minute film for the series Foreign Artists in Japan. Produced, written and directed by Shirley Booth.

As Senior Producer for NHK Enterprises (Europe) I produced and directed numerous programmes including:

Grand Gourmet – Food Travels in Europe: A series of 12 half-hour programmes on High Definition TV. Subjects included: Alba Truffles, Vialone Nano Rice, Culatello di Zibello Ham in Italy; Foie Gras, Escargots and
Rascasse in France; Eels on The Thames.

Crafts of the World: A series of 20-minute programmes on HDTV looking at traditional crafts. Produced over 50 programmes in the series.
